Deciding on a floor-plan

We started with a wish list...a list that we’ve gathered from viewing many spec homes around the area on beautiful Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We meet with Listy and Richard (our builders) to discuss our wish list and our initial vision for our next home. There were some absolute musts that each of us had and then there were a few: if we can make it work please add this and that....

Well, a week or two later we meet with the Harrington’s again to
see the selections that they had to show us. The options were great but not quite what we were looking for....

So, Shomari asked if it was possible to find floor plans for an existing home that is also being occupied. We had discussed this before but honestly I figured it was a long shot however much to my surprise they said it was a possibility! I don’t think I’ve ever seen my husbands eye light up as I did that afternoon.

He was asking because we visited a home last year that stole his heart!

(In case you missed it.... we started this journey a year ago but ran into a couple of road blocks. Anyway last year on one of our weekend trips to view homes I suggested a home that I’d seen on the Internet for sale. At first, Shomari wasn’t really interested but that certainly changed once inside the home. He absolutely feel head over hills for the home.)

Honestly, I am uncertain what it was about the home that made us love it so because it was missing several of our ‘must-haves’. However for some reason it didn’t even matter it just felt like home. I’ve often heard you’ll just know it when you walk into it. Well, Shomari knew the moment he walked into it. He was home. Unfortunately, our current home didn’t sale and someone else purchased it but Shomari never stopped thinking of the house. He would mention it whenever we started to discuss our next home. I would often think to myself, “He needs to get over it....the house is gone!”

Anyway, I was wrong because not only will Shomari get the floor-plan he feel in love with - we get to make it our own. We get to change and add and rearrange to include some of the missing ‘must-haves’! I still won’t get my porch but I will get our dream house.

When Listy and Richard contacted us and said, “We know the builder of that house and he shared where we can purchase the floor plan.” I was totally shocked. Last year when we started this journey my prayer was: “Lord, your will. Not mine.” and I am convinced that this time around it is His will and we will get our hearts desire...our dream come true.

Is it really happening this time?

The meeting went well. Before the meeting the plan was to just go and just talk about options but I guess that went out of the window fairly quickly because I think we agreed to get the ball rolling on a new home!

I am a little nervous and apprehensive. Don’t want to get my hopes up because we’ve been down this road before...in fact the meeting almost had a feeling of de’ja’vue to it! With one major exception: a plan for if our home doesn’t sell!

We originally met Richard and his wife, Listy last year. We even decided on a floor plan and the whole nine but we couldn’t sell our home. I guess I am nervous because I was terribly disappointed but we are taking it a step at time and can’t wait to see where we end up this time.

First step: I’m planning to contact a couple of mortgage companies to see if we can still get pre-approval.

I’ll check in soon and let know if we’ll be moving forward!

Update: We have been pre-approved! Exciting! Is this really it? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
